What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed (see Gen 32:27, 28). Name change: Jacob had passed the test, God had made a prince out of a deceiver, which resulted in a new man, with a new name.
Transformation is defined as a complete or major change in someone’s or something’s appearance, form, etc. It is an act, process, or instance of transforming or being transformed. The Greek meaning is to change into another form, to transform, to transfigure. Transformation is the process for the believer.
Instead of being a child of the devil we become a child of God. Instead of a sinful nature we receive God’s nature – His Spirit. Instead of a normal life we live Christ’s life. Instead of trying to be or look like the latest “sex symbol” we are conformed to the image of Jesus (Rom 8:29). Our message is not popular but it’s powerful and it is RIGHT! Our message is old but NOT obsolete. More than old-fashioned, it’s God fashioned. We’re not here to look like the devil, act like the devil, or play with the devil. He is our enemy and we must refuse and resist his wares, tactics, and temptations. Resistance to change is rebellion as a child of God. To resist God is to submit to the devil. To resist the devil is to submit to God.
Don’t allow the world, the flesh, or the devil to keep you from God’s transformation process. Don’t allow the process to be aborted. The process is for your good and God’s glory. But the Word did not profit them not being mixed with faith (Heb 4:2).
