As we approach the celebration of the birth of our Jesus, it behooves us to keep this gala in perspective. This is a celebration about Jesus – the Savior of the world. When the Angel of the Lord announced His arrival to the shepherds he proclaimed, “I bring you good tidings (news) of great (mega, big, huge) joy which will be to all people.” As my former Pastor use to say, “all is the biggest word in the Bible because it includes everything.” In this case it includes the Gospel being spread to every person. The Gospel – the message/power of salvation – should be the centerpiece of our celebration. Let’s review the Good News of the Christmas Story as written in the Bible? Enjoy!

“Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14 KJV)

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 KJV)

“And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;” (Isaiah 11:2 KJV)

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me; because the Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;” (Isaiah 61:1 KJV)

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.” (Luke 1:26-28 KJV)
