“Meanwhile, the eleven disciples were on their way to Galilee, headed for the mountain Jesus had set for their reunion. The moment they saw him they worshiped him. Some, though, held back, not sure about worship, about risking themselves totally.
Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” Mt 28:16-20 TMB
If you ever question why we’re here or what we’re doing, re-read the above passage. For many, this is just too simple and straight-forward. Life is more complicated than this and there are other variables which must be considered. Not everyone believes the same things and we should always consider and respect that. Hmmmm…
As the Church, what we should consider and respect most is what the One who died for the sins of the entire world and rose from the dead had to say. The world is perishing and we have the answer. In spite of the fact that there were some in His day on earth who held back, were unsure, and fearful, Jesus undauntedly commanded the eleven to preach the Gospel. He commands us to do the same.
Jesus wants us to be so full of the Holy Ghost until we never doubt, hesitate, hold back, or delay what He’s doing in the earth. We didn’t start this journey with Him in order to become reluctant, luke-warm, stale, dry, or discontent. We’re taking this journey in full-flame, blazing hot, hungering and thirsting for the Master. Stay on course – something’s about to change…
“The ways of right-living people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine. But the road of wrongdoing gets darker and darker—travelers can’t see a thing; they fall flat on their faces.”
Prov 4:18-19 TMB
