“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” Luke 23:46
“I’ve put my life in Your hands. You won’t drop me, You’ll never let me down.” Psalm 31:5 MSG. These are the last words of our Master Jesus that were spoken from the Cross and then He gave up the Ghost (His life). Jesus said no man could take His life – He laid it down. He had power to lay it down and power to take it up again (see John 10:18)! Up until the end Jesus knew these words to be true. While hanging on the Cross He was still in control. About to breathe His last breath He made certain all things were complete. With everything settled between He and the Father, Jesus lets everyone know where He’s going – into the Hands of the Father. That’s trust, comfort, security, peace, everlasting life. Enduring separation for a moment, now there’s reunion forever.
Jesus lets us know what’s on the other side of this life. For Jesus and all who believe in Him, there’s God the Father and everlasting life. For those who don’t believe in Jesus, there’s everlasting fire and the devil and his angels (see Matthew 25:41). There is no reincarnation, only resurrection. There is no place called purgatory where one can be prayed out of or have penitence given on their behalf to absolve them once they have died. It is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment (see Hebrews 9:27). Nirvana is not the answer – ONLY JESUS!
In the midst of chaos, confusion, and disorder, Jesus remains the Hope of Glory. He is the Sure Foundation, He is the Solid Rock. No one says it better than Jesus – “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by Me.” As we continue the march towards Resurrection Sunday in celebration of Christ, our Passover Lamb, let us follow hard after Jesus. He gave it all so that we could have it all. Let us bring our best resurrection seed ever because God is so good.
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 NKJV
