“This charge and admonition I commit in trust to you, Timothy, my son, [a]in accordance with prophetic intimations which I formerly received concerning you, so that inspired and aided by them you may wage the good warfare…” I Tim 1:18 AMP
It was the prophesying of Zechariah and Haggai that moved the people of God to action. “Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariahthe son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them (Ezra 5:1).” The true prophetic word from God should always move God’s people to action. Action is the direct result of faith which comes from hearing the word of God. Faith is action otherwise it is dead faith. Prophetic words are like lamps which shine in the darkness.
The charge to Timothy by Paul was to take the prophetic words which had been spoken over his life as fuel to fight or wage the good warfare. The fight is against visible and invisible foes that come against the knowledge and plan of God concerning you. Here is God’s will, now go do it.
When faced with opposition, we declare God’s will/word against it. Jesus said, “Man shall not live…”; “Thou shall not tempt…”; “Thou shall worship…” Those are words Jesus used, Kingdom warfare strategies, to combat and defeat the devil who was trying to deceive Him. It was Jesus’ words vs satan’s words. Jesus won!! So do you and I, when we wage the good warfare based on prophetic scripture. Look at what King David said, “This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel (I Sam 17:46).” Knowing the will of God concerning us in Christ Jesus is the key to ultimate victory. God will never lead us to be defeated. He always causes us to triumph (II Cor 2:14). If you’re feeling defeated it’s because you’re living by feelings and not by faith. Faith knows no defeat. Faith worketh by Love (Gal 5:6). Love never fails (I Cor 13:8). The word works when we work the word.
Whose word has the final authority in your life? Gods? Yours? Others? Don’t be bounced around by the opinions of others. Our days on earth are numbered and we want every one of them to count for the glory of God. Live by faith in the Word. Your future rests on what you do now. Sow the Word now! Our actions and deeds are seeds being sown for now and eternity.
“Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” Hos 10:12
